Engrossing dispatch or word dump?

I'll weigh in on this.

I've spent time lurking here, and I've spent long periods of time avoiding this place. Anyone who hasn't figured out by now that few of the rules are consistently enforced here is either new or clueless. Just in the last day, I took a cheap shot at one of the biggest soulsuckers here. And I got called out for it. And I was right to get called out for it.

Today I see that someone is told he doesn't get it and he never will. And that will go unquestioned, partially because the target of that post is far more evolved than the soulsucker I mentioned before, but mainly because that poster apparently is on one side of the political aisle. To me, that sucks.

There's also the apparent issue with a certain clique getting a pass most of the time. To me, that is a lesser issue than what I mentioned before. It'll never change.

A big problem I see, though, is the constant insistence that someone is "a good guy" even when that person shits on any alternative view. I'm sorry, but then that person is not "a good guy." Stop telling us he is.

A point I'd like to address, but won't in depth, is how certain aspects of the business or what it used to be are swallowed as easily as an experienced whore giving a blowjob. That will have to wait for another time.

On the plus side, I think there is less arrogance and uninformed ignorance here than in the past. But I assume that's due to job cuts, and if the newspaper world were the same as it was 10-12 years ago, I'm sure the same people would be here daily and offering useless platitudes like "That's just the way it is." It's too bad it took the elimination of those positions, likely forever, to zap away that way of thinking.

I have my own opinion of the way the powers-that-be do things. It's not a good one. And I'm sure they don't give the smallest shit. But there will be a time and a place to address that. It might be too late, and it might be never.

 

Everyone has some moment where they feel like they're the hunted, and that life is unfair.

Sure.

I stand by what I said. Everyone who posts at these types of places has some time when they feel life here is unfair, or the moderators are mean to their particular brand of opinion, or some jerkyface isn't getting the comeuppance they supposedly deserve.

Getting caught up in some nebulous idea of "JUSTICE!!!" as it applies to Internet Message Boards is a waste of time.

 

Which is why I started out by saying only new people and clueless people here would assume there would be anything of the sort.

Doesn't make it suck any less, though.

Are you just pointing out those exist? Or is there something specific to see?

 

The two of you talk about people getting passes, but then if you look at the rules, both of you are getting some passes as well. If not now, but in the past.

 

For what? Calling you out on some things? Let it go.

 

I don't think they broke any of those rules ...
