Touching a player like what? 'At one point, she placed her hand suggestively on Soriano’s left biceps.' What the hell does that mean?

Define pornography.

I can't, but I know it when I see it.

So you aren't defending the behavior, just doubting that it happened?

One more time: It's a COLUMN. By definition, you (figuratively) get up on a soapbox when you write a COLUMN.

I wasn't there, I didn't see it, and I'm really not trusting this guy to decide for me; the entire tone of the story is condescending and judgmental.

She touched his arm? So what? To him it was 'suggestive,' to her or to Soriano or to others it may have just been a hand on the arm. Big deal. This is a news story, that Erin Andrews touched Soriano's bicep?

As an aside, Sun-Times beat writer Gordon Wittenmyer posted this during the game in question:

http://blogs.suntimes.com/cubs/2008/07/espns_erin_andrews_in_the_hous.html

The only thing in the post is a picture of Erin Andrews that looks like it was taken with a cell phone.

What possible news value does this have? Why is it posted on the Web site of a major metropolitan newspaper?

Grazed it to get to someone's locker? No.

Held it in a way that I envision based on that description? Fuck yes.

I don't want that shit going either way.

That 'description' was merely the word 'suggestive' which is completely subjective. Whatever you envision is completely the product of your own fantasy, not the result of his detailed reporting of the event.

It has none. It was posted because the Sun Times goes for stuff like that. I know I've poster their "hottest fan" contest on another thread somewhere.

Yeah, but this is Wittenmyer himself (I'm assuming; judging by the file name on the photo) doing it. He just came from Minneapolis last year. Why would he lower himself like this?

When (and why) did we start pretending that Erin Andrews is just another hard-working journalist trying to do her job without calling attention to herself?

Hey, when Erin wore that same dress on our date the other night, I was OK with it.

Which is the fundamental problem.
People like her f@ck it up for guys like me who have to be in a clubhouse every day because it confuses the players.
'Reporters' such as Ms. Andrews get in, do nice stories, kiss a guy on the cheek, tell him he's great, etc. then they leave not to be seen from again.
The players are confused by people such as that, as it leaves them wondering what the role of the media is and why everyone can't 'be that nice.'
