I get plenty of stories, much bigger than Erin Andrews'. But thanks for the concern.
Also, no, I am not jealous of her. Again, though, the concern is appreciated.

Column translation: "I AM SO PATHETIC I stood around the clubhouse leering at Erin Andrews this afternoon then, when my boner went away, I kept watching her go around the room and began to really, really resent that players seem to like talking to her more than they like talking to me then, all of a sudden, they closed the clubhouse and my notebook was empty because, well, I stood around watching Erin Andrews, so I'm writing about Erin Andrews wearing clothes of which I disapprove unless, well, she's wearing them when she's talking to me, which she isn't because she and the players DON'T KNOW I'M ALIVE, so SCREW ALL OF THEM, dammit!"

I'm now going to start a collection to get Mike Nadel a life. I accept PayPal.

    So then the player
Which means she must not be confusing the players and f@cking it up for everyone else.

The biggest misconception I hear.... the readers don't care.

Readers care about personalities, the non-relatives they visit with over and over. And now, with paper blogs and multimedia video transmissions and the like, many journos are very public figures.

People care, to a degree like they do, for whatever reason, about a Mel Gibson getting a DUI and hurling religious epithets around....

  5. I guess you haven't heard of Neil Best, who has one of the most-read blogs in the New York area. People do care about personalities. Much like readers have pressed to find out more in-depth information about their favorite athletes, it's becoming the same for media celebrities now.

Big difference between beat writers and media/TV columnists...

I think writing about other members of the media the way this suggests makes us look self-important.

Many of our readers, listeners and viewers see us as being arrogant and smug. Doing stuff like that lends credence to that impression. It's not something we should be fostering PERIOD.

I didn't think this guy came off as arrogant and smug. He seemed more pathetic and jealous.

Sounds like the columnist is a hater that has a certain sense of frustration that Andrews has reached a level of her profession that he wishes he could have. Pretty pathetic. I agree with Ace: this is definitely a petty "man."

Andrews is attractive, but she does her job and does it pretty well. That's what she should be judged on.

Notepad, man, you're the one who said people like her are (bleeping) up your job.
