Rob isn't "famous." He's just a veteran journalist and a good friend. Personally, I don't care if a person is white, black or what have you. But to make the statement that Azrael made, and he makes a lot of them, was ridiculous.
YF, have you EVER been in journalism as a reporter or copy editor? You talk a lot of stuff and I know you have another profession but your line of questioning is puzzling at times. Maybe it's for shock value. I dunno.
At any rate, I think we are all in agreement that Parker made a huge blunder.

So, you clearly think Azrael's race informs his opinion. Do you think race informs your opinion?

And, if it does, and if you want to comment on Az's race, why not let us know your race? Isn't relevant to us, as it likely does inform your opinion?

I do not think that word means what you think that it means.

Frankly I was hoping to hear more from the Imaginary Council on Race Relations.

The irony here is that ESPN has made strides in recent years. They've really stressed the importance of live games (World Cup soccer, the bowl games, tennis, etc...) after tormenting us with a Mario Lopez-hosted show and Bryan Dennehy playing Bob Knight.

SportsCenter will never be the same. Olbermann's not walking through that door, to paraphrase Rick Pitino. I'm ok with that. It's not required viewing to get your news, just like the evening news on one of the three major networks isn't either.

Son, I'm going to let you off with a warning here, but you're asking for a ticket, mixing usage and fact crimes like this.

So the back door is the shining beacon who knows all, sees all and feels all?

Thanks, I'll stick to the front bottom.

Mario Lopez? Shit, glad I missed that one. The standard response I get when I bitch about ESPN is, "Why the hell do you watch ESPN?" But it is still the only place to get news on all sports in one easy to digest time frame. I usually just have it on in the background, but it still irritates me quite often. I am hoping the NBC Sports Network takes off and I can stop relying on ESPN for breaking news updates. I was without NFL Network for the first few years, and I wished I had it, but now I only watch when there is game highlights for them to show. Same with MLB. I'd love to see an all-sports network that can compete with ESPN. Because I still love sports and news, and I'd prefer to watch that than Iron Chef or whatever else is on during the day. Maybe I should just get a "normal" job and watch actual TV shows at night. Hmmm.
