They couldn't get rid of Mel Kiper? The latter not make much money?

I mean, yes. But Disney's in serious financial trouble. IMO. And not really the politics stuff. The market has shifted.

ESPN was a lot more fun when it wasn't as big in pre-NFL days and more so before it got MLB.

On deals like these, does it just come down to whose contract is up?

She's superior to every other NFL pre-game host, and I think that's just a fact. Ridiculous.

Screaming A, Pat McAfee and Buck/Aikmen are the only sacred cows right now I think. Every other voice is fungible, and if the Mouse can save two dimes with someone younger and cheaper then sucks to be you.

Good lord, I remember being a devoted SportsCenter watcher before school in the early ESPN days and then one morning it was some old dude soberly talking about stuff I could not fathom (and mostly still can't). Dagger for 8-year-old me.

Is it that much different than newspaper layoffs? They'll get someone at a fraction of her salary to do the job, surely younger, and his/her only job will be to not end up on the bad end of a viral clip.

The only truly surprising name to me so far is Van Gundy but three-man booths are bound to be targets when you're doing major housecleaning.
