You just got that from watching Friends.

No way. I've seen every episode four or five times. I feel like that would have stuck.

Nah, you tend to forget such things when you're trying to gauge how cold it is whenever Aniston's on set.

Phil Mushnick just got a two week ban from SJ.com:

    A Britt touchy — seriously
Imagine, ESPN once defended Erin Andrews as “a serious broadcast journalist.” As for that college diploma earned by serious ESPN broadcast journalist Britt McHenry — the one she boasted about while trashing that tow lot cashier — we’re told it’s a degree in applied makeup.

And, btw, I don't disagree with Ragu that some posts are inappropriate.

But, about 50% of the posts on this board are going to be considered inappropriate by someone. It's impossible to please everyone, especially the kind of "single issue voter" who will walk away based on the inappropriateness of one post, or one topic.

And, it's a little hard to take complaints seriously, when the only women who are defended against such jokes are journalists/broadcasters.

Or when one prominent journalist is referred to as the "Dwarf" without any complaints. But, hey, no one likes him, so it's ok.

Just like we are were allowed to make fun of Peter King.

Wait. We're not allowed to make fun of Peter King? Says who??

    There was a memo.

I think we should still be allowed to make fun of Peter King and talk about Josh Hamilton, but some of the King posts were close to batshit, like saying he is a "terrible person."

I personally have been trying to dial it back for about six months now. My goal in posting has always been to add to the entertainment around here, not to offend anyone.

But like YF says, people being offended is going to happen. But I don't think most posts/joking around on SJ are mean-spirited. That's the key to me: intent. Trying to make others laugh, or being a vicious asshole. Sometimes that is hard to discern.

Switching directions from tasteless jokes for a moment, I liked Leonard Pitts' take on this:

Leonard Pitts Jr.: ‘Hissy fit’ shows ugly side of TV reporter | Miami Herald Miami Herald

Her "I'm on television" taunts are indeed reflective of someone raised in the era of reality TV/Kardashians/social media, etc. Far too many young people today judge a person's worth based upon how many eyes are upon them. It's not whether you do good or bad things that matters as much as how much attention you get.

I think "wretched" was the term used.
