And they pay for it. Poland scores on a tap-in.

I hate to break it to all the Polish fans on this board, but the guy that just scored was offside

One thing I love about watching European soccer -- hearing the fans chant to "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes like they did before the Austria-Poland game!

I think some credit has to go to the Polish keeper. But at this high a level, you are supposed to finish those chances. At least some of them. The Austrian forwards are choking in front of the net. The Polish keeper is really good, and I remember he had a good WC as well, but one-on-one with the keeper is supposed to be a goal. Let alone three times in one half.

Boruc is a muppet. Watch him enough times and you see it. He lets in some awful goals. This isn't to say he can't have a good game here and there, but he can definitely be beat.

The US, who can't score a goal at all, put up a 3-spot on him. Austria has no one that can finish.

Wow-penalty kick to Austria in the last minute.

    And it's good.

You are correct, Austria has no quality goalscorers. But if I recall it correctly, the US scored those three goals on corner kicks. I think they were all headers or close range shots, not one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Perhaps, but it was a bone-headed move by Schweiny to lash out so close to the AR. No complaints about the red card or the result.

Agreed. If nothing else, he deserved the red for being so dumb.

Two good matchups today -- Romania vs. Italy and the Netherlands vs. France. It will be interesting to see how both the Netherlands and Italy respond after the 3-0 thrashing the Orange gave Italy in the first game. I think Italy will come out more offensive against Romania but I wouldn't consider it a given that they will win. Romania is a tough opponent.
I hope France has Henry and Viera back for this game. If they do then this game could be a classic, high scoring game. If not then France will not have a chance.

Two were corners and the third was an Eddie Lewis dead ball outside the box. The US has no goal scorers either.

I agree. The Netherlands v. France game could be a classic.
