Did CRon get stepped on after the foul? Was that reason for the delayed reaction?

Well, so much for defense or goalkeeping.

Portugal has no answer for Germany in the air. Portugal is horrible on set pieces and corner kicks. And Germany is pretty good in those two categories. Portugal has had their chances and missed two really good ones in front of the goal while Germany has capitalized on their own chances. Portugal has not been good in front of the goal on either end of the field.

Lifeline, horrible marking by the German defenders.

Germany wins 3-2. Good game to start the knockout stage.

Typical Germany. Good if unimpressive early, but showing signs of peaking.

Won't be surprised if Ze Germans win it. That's a good, good team.

The Germans are always good. No surprise that if that side ever wakes up, watch out.

Portugal completely overmatched by Germany in the air.

Well I guess Portugal coach Robert Loggia can go back to acting ... or Chelski.

Andy Gray was fantastic as usual today--spot on with his analysis of the Germans' destruction of Portugal's back line.

Germany's third goal shows why players oversell contact. Ballack clearly fouled Ferreira, but the defender didn't throw his arms up and fall over. If he had, he would have gotten the call and it would still have been a one goal game.
