Nice that it was Fabregas with the winner.

That's what you get Italy, playing that boring soccer and playing for PK's. Spain was the better team and Casillas made some good saves on the PKs. Spain deserved to win.

    Wheeeee! Suck it, Azzurri!

    Germany v. Turkey
    Russia v. Spain

    Crazy, crazy tournament. As always.

Two big name teams -- Germany and Spain. Two surprise teams -- Turkey and Russia. Damn good tournament. Wouldn't mind seeing a Germany-Spain title match.

    AMEN to that!

    AMEN to that.

And we have the hat trick here.

How cool was that riff on the German referee in extra time?
"He was simply awful today. Hopefully this will be his last game in this tournament."

Meanwhile, the cheating, diving, cholesterols of soccer are heading home. And not a moment too soon.

That's usually true, but I'm glad it wasn't this time. Spain is fun to watch.

Spain-Russia is going to be awesome.

Big difference between the 4-1 kicking the Spaniards put on Russia in the opener? Arshavin will be available for the Russians.

My wife, who isn't a huge sports fan, was sitting in the living room during today's second half. At one point, Gray called a challenge "stupid, stupid, stupid."

My wife looked at me and said "You'd never heard an American announcer say that about a player."
