Doesn’t appear to matter in Indiana:

Sec. 8 . (a) A person who, with intent to arouse or satisfy the person's own sexual desires or the sexual desires of another person:

While we're at it, can we quit referring to a fourteen year old as a "young woman'? She was barely a teenager.

This definition would be very focused on Blatter’s intent. Might be why AP changed the story.

This part is key, because we’re told men simply being present is a constant, imminent threat of force.

We talked about “force” a lot on rape day in law school. It was a huge transformation in the law, at some point. “Force” is almost superfluous in the statutes now. Unconsented sexual touching utilizes “force,” by definition.

This is frustrating to witness. If you drive 80 in a 55 zone, you sped, and ran the risk of getting a ticket.

The earliest existing Tweets from AP and Anne Peterson re: Blatter use the “grabbed” characterization.

Moddy started the thread on it at 3:02 p.m. At some point in those hours, AP changes the characterization and scrubbed Twitter (and the wire?) of the “sexual assault” version.

That's one thing that hasn't really been touched on yet: What should the penalty be for, say, unsolicited ass-grabbing?

That article's whole point is there's very little gray area between "$500 fine" and "20 years in prison."

So, what? Jail time? Hefty fine? Registering as a sex offender?

I tend to think something like probation would work for most of these "minor" assaults.
