The video of the crash is pretty crazy. She could have been killed. I'm inclined to believe that Tarantino just really wanted the shot, and let his needs as a director get in the way of his responsibilities as a human being—I don't see the same connection between Weinstein's behaviour and crash. (There's an earlier scene where Tarantino confronted Weinstein about his behaviour.) I think the decision not to let her see the footage was classic ass covering. She could have suits the lights out of the them, I suspect.

I'd be curious to know how her father, a Buddhist scholar who believes she's a reincarnated goddess, reconciles how she's been treated with his faith.

No, I don't either. I don't think she puts it that way either, and I didn't mean to say it in my brief recap.

I just think it helps demonstrate that actresses are disposable to guys like Weinstein and Tarantino. They may act like they are your friend when they have a movie to make or promote, but at the end of the day, they don't give a shit about you, and if you won't do what they want, they'll find someone else who will.

Honestly, "I would never let my daughter become an actress" should be said as commonly as, "I would never let my son play football."

Yes, I would say that's the larger message of Thurman's entire story: Even stars are meat to the men in power. Not just in terms of sexual assault. They're disposable in every respect.

Yep. There's an endless supply of actresses, and guys like Tarantino and Weinstein believe in their own ability as film makers to get a great performance, or make a great movie, with just about any actress.

Did we just agree on something? I'm not sure how I feel about this.
