I would assume there are other women who’re pondering making claims (legitimate or not). Letting the world know you’ll go scorched earth might be an attempt to mitigate some of those threats.

Remember when Naomi Wolf called out Harold Bloom? And was scolded for doing so by Camille Paglia?

Say what you want about Hollywood or Washington or the fashion business, the average American university was often a real cesspit for this kind of coerced, transactional sex between faculty and students.

The last 25 years of zero-tolerance policies have probably helped curb some/much of it. Hope so.

My university expressly forbids relationships of any sort between faculty and student, whether said student is "under" a given faculty member or not.

Really, my university treats me like a slave. [/crossthread]

And yet we both know you are not one, nor is it implied in your statement that you consider yourself to be one.

You're characterizing the behavior of the university.

    Hmm. [crossthread]

Seems like the only way to do it.

    Does that include TAs?

    Yep.

So everyone is covered, up one side and down the other.

Has it worked where you are?
