They should just drop him off in Yemen and then hit him with a drone was a work around.

So the Bill of Rights should be selectively used?

His rights to due process and a fair trial reinforce the same rights for the rest of us.

You must've used ultraviolet font on that one.

Of course he'll get due process. Followed by a due dicking.

He may face the DP, but if you put a gun to my head, I wouldn't be surprised to see the DP taken off the table in exchange for a guilty plea and a mandatory LWOP sentence if he talks his head off to the feds.

See, e.g., the Unabomber; Jared Lee Loughner.

Exactly. He has the "right to a fair trial."

Too many read that as "the right to an acquittal because the police are always wrong and an acquittal will really show 'em."

The first procedural element of the trial process is liable to be a delay in any proceedings until this dude is physically capable of participating in his own defense, which could be awhile, at least according to the description of his wounds in the complaint.

True, could be a while until he's even competent to answer questions, let alone stand trial.

Between Whitey Bolger and this guy it should be a circus in the Boston Federal Court some of which will not put the Boston office of the FBI in good light.

I know you're joking, but they won't use torture. We don't torture our citizens to get answers, and for good reason.

Tom Friedman had a column yesterday on how to rebuild America in the aftermath of Boston.
His centerpiece suggestion - a carbon tax:

"So what to do? We need a more “radical center” — one much more willing to suggest radically new ideas to raise revenues, not the “split-the-difference-between-the-same-old-options center.” And the best place to start is with a carbon tax. "
