He may have plenty of reasons to lie. Unlike Starman, though, I think when he's semi-conscious and in a fog, he'd be less likely to.

 

Read the first page of that, and was amazed at Friedman's Beamon-like leap of logic. We have a terrorist attack that seems like it'll be shrugged off fairly quickly (a relatively small number of casualties, and even most of the runners I've seen interviewed seem determined to return to Boston next year) so we need to "heal" the country's economy by passing a potentially-oppressive tax that has been shot down numerous times before because it's such a bad idea?

It'll jog his motivation to say ANYTHING to make the torture stop.
