You cannot reject the word of G-d. If you believe that the Bible, Gospels, Torah, Quran ... is the word of your Deity, then all the words have equal value. A problem with the Christian Gospels, is that Jesus never rejected the practice Judaism. It was the Apostles (or those that wrote in their names decades after their death), in order to promote Jesus, who decided to ignore certain aspects of the Jewish religion in order to curry favor with the pagans, Romans and other gentiles.

Believe it all, or none, those are your choices.

Just saw the boat owner on WCVB. He said he doesn't want people raising money to get him a new boat, he wants that money going to the victims fund.

The problem isn't Islam. As you usually have when pointless violence is involved, it's the disenfranchised male between 15 and 25. Religion or pride or whatever is simply the excuse when testosterone decides to act out.

Jesus shed a different light on Judaism...count the number of "It is/you have heard it said"'s followed by "But I say"'s....

    I think this is wrong.

An extremely small percentage of disenfranchised males between 15 and 25 commit acts of terror.

An extremely small percentage of Muslims commit acts of terror.

But Tsarnaev didn't use religion as an excuse to act out.

He embraced his Muslim roots. That set him on a path towards radical Islam. Now, maybe the pairing of being a loser, along with radical Islam, was necessary for him to decide to plant bombs.

But, it wasn't just being "disenfranchised".

What leads folks to "radical" Islam is Islam.

I don't think it's cut and dried but the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by young men. Most spree shootings are done by men, most of whom are young.

I admit I could be absolutely wrong but while the older brother in particular might have used Islam as an rationale, I think this was a disaffected guy, without friends, who in his gut was looking to strike out against a world he hated. Without the... (I don't know? Maleness of it all?...) he would have spent his time writing fifteen-page letters to the local rag.

Wouldn't it be funny if he was planning on getting rid of the boat, maybe because he didn't want to pay for insurance on it, etc., but a bunch of well-meaning people got him a boat anyway?

"But your cut-rate insurance might not cover an accused terrorist involved in a gunfight in your boat."

Apparently law enforcement has only 1 9mm handgun that the 'terrorists' used. Hundreds of shots in the shootout, yet the badguys had 1 gun between them. Generally 9 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.

So now they just couldn't actually find these guys but they couldn't outshoot a single handgun.

I read that the reason they executed the MIT cop was because they only had one gun, and figured killing a cop would be the easiest way to get a second gun.

But, he has some sort of tricky holster, and they ended up leaving his gun behind.

If that's true, I don't know when they might have gotten a second gun.

I think what we'll find is that, with the way bullets ricochet, the cops thought they were under considerable more fire than they actually were.

(And, that cops are terrible shots.)
