Guy runs Boston Marathon, goes home to Texas where he witnesses the fertilizer plant explosion.

    Really hard to tell.

They look Caucasian. If they're Arabic, they're light skinned.

Are we speculating? The one observation I would make is that they are young. Both liberals, and Jihadists, are commonly radicalized at a young age. Right wing radicals mostly grow into it.

And, I am surprised that more than one person was involved (if these two did it). We always have reports of 2nd shooters, or co-conspirators, and it rarely turns out to be true. (Columbine was an/the exception.)

Absolutely. Someone will recognize them by all the details. Maybe not right away, but someone will see these and say, hmmm, that looks like the guy I sold that remote-control car to, or that's the creepy guy who lives down the hall. There will be tons of inaccurate calls, but someone will identify them. Unless they are already in Bora Bora, they will be found.
I have seen much worse surveillance shots lead to an arrest. Hey, I watch a lot of "First 48."

Where the hell did you come up with this?

Well, Jihadists are mostly young. The left wing 60's radicals were young guys (and gals) like Bill Ayers.

Right wing radicals, the kind of guys who go out and kill abortion doctors are almost always older.

There are exceptions. Timothy McVeigh was only 27 or so. Though, I'd say these guys look even younger.

And worth noting -- it becomes exponentially easier to recognize them if you know both of them. Assuming they are friends, there's a good chance of that.

Bob Orr at CBS said he spoke to a high placed Justice official (I think) who said he leans a bit toward thinking this was domestic terror, but they really don't know. For whatever that's worth.

And Eric Rudolph would also be an exception, and he's probably the most direct parallel to these guys.

One theory I heard early on, from several people, was that the lack of a claim of responsibility pointed to domestic terrorism.

They said that foreign terrorists would be excited to claim responsibility, while domestic terrorists would be more consumed with not getting caught.

    It makes sense, but...

Whoever did this is here. Surely they want to get away with it, whether they are locals, or foreigners.

And, they could be domestic, but inspired by foreign influences, though they have no contact with foreigners, and there is no operational control, or funding from abroad.

I'm open to any conclusion, but while I think we can all take a guess, I think it's way to early to make any decisions. (Though, I so think these guys will be in custody very soon if they are still in the country.)d

I'm leaning toward domestic terrorists influenced by foreign affairs and possibly working for an overseas organization. Just a gut feeling.

Real terrorists blow themselves up. These guys have to be domestic.

I'm leaning toward angry MIT dropouts who just decided they'd do something spectacular.
