Explosion at Boston Marathon II

According to a former athlete I covered who is married to one of their reporters, NESN is on lockdown in Watertown.

 

Nothing to add at the moment. Just wanted to post so I could bookmark it for further reading today and over the weekend.

If the robbing a 7-11 is correct, WTF were these guys doing? They have had days to leave the area, and they don't even have enough money or supplies to stay hidden for a week or two?

 

Two guys. A bunch of home-made bombs. It's pretty obvious but we've probably got a couple of Columbine fanboys on our hands.

 

Because they were loaded down with firearms and explosives, is it possible they planned for a second attack? Perhaps something during classes at MIT or in Boston during high-traffic transit? If the photos are correct identification, who knows, maybe they saw the news and figured the vise was tightening.

We know nothing right now.

Hopefully they bring #2 in alive (at this point I am doubtful on that), hook his nipples up to the battery cables, turn the voltage up to 11 until he sings like Pavarotti.

 

Twitter theory from some dude named @brunota2003, no idea who it is. Says the bombers may have been planning attack on MIT, were interrupted by police officer, fled to 7-11 and carjacked the guy.

 

Robbing the 7-11 is the piece that does not fit. And you are right about not knowing anything concrete right now.

 

And how they got these weapons will make for some interesting reading.

I hope they catch the second alive and take whatever measures are necessary to make him talk. Nothing is off the table.

 

Pete Williams on NBC Today (on an hour early) said that the two suspects might have had foreign military training.

That potentially explains their affinity for using explosives and methodically engaging in shootouts.
