Just to break it down. On Thursday night police "as they tore westward, they were joined by what seemed like every available police vehicle in Greater Boston, all whipping along Storrow and Memorial drives and lighting up the Charles in a seemingly unending blur of flashing lights".

Chase ends in Watertown in a shootout. Suspect 2 gets back in Mercedes SUV and starts driving at police. Where were all the police cars then? Where were the helicopters?

Seriously, how could they lose track of this guy at that point? There was not one police car available to follow him? Helicopters did not track him?

Think of the millions of dollars of costs and lost wagers due to the fact that they did not catch him Thursday night when they had him cornered.

I don't see how anyone could say that was good police work. The good folks of Watertown out clapping last night seemed like hapless saps.

I'm sorry but law enforcement officials caught two guys who killed or injured 200 people in four days after their attack and, in the process, probably saved hundreds of more lives by preventing what looks like a planned second or third attack.
To say to this anything less than fantastic police work is idiotic. Life doesn't work like an episode of 24.

No I wouldn't have because I'm not trained in that line of work. The police train for this type of work. It's not an unreasonable
question to ask how the police could have lost track of a bullet ridden SUV as it headed down the street.

He is still innocent until proven guilty and this is still America. He deserves his Constitutional rights, no matter what he did.

A point which certainly made me wonder about all the "USA USA" chants after they caught the guy.

I'll back the cops anyway. Were you there? Do you know every mitigating detail?

It's easy to criticize a vicious chase in the black of night from a safe distance.

Has anyone considered the possibility that T - 1 suffered from CTE. He was a boxer and soccer player. Maybe one too many blows to the head started his spiral into the dark.

Exactly. The idea of any of us criticizing law enforcement officials for their actions in trying to apprehend this guy without being there and knowing the details is ridiculous.
By that logic, the suspects should have been caught seconds after they detonated the bomb. After all, how many people were in the city at the time of the attack? How could they get away?

Yeah. I'm just glad no one has ever been criticized for allowing a wanted fugitive to elude capture.
