Constitutional rights are not something you deserve or don't deserve. That's why they're called "rights"

The rest of the world? So there's not a justice system anywhere else that affords people things like a trial by jury?

More questions than answers from Watertown Police Chief on the events over the last 2 days including this
    nugget:

"However, his cell phone remained in the car, which gave police their first lead in tracking the suspected bombers. Authorities tracked the cell signal to a quiet residential street in Watertown, where a firefight ensued."

If the police were able to track them how come they were not more prepared with greater force ?

Someone named Boom should show decency and respect to the victims and not post on a thread about the Boston Marathon bombing.

Isn't it obvious that the police's screw-ups would never have happened if only Tom Verducci had been more vigilant about Roger Clemens?

Still, it's a fluid situation and I caution anyone from jumping to conclusions.

his 2nd Amendment rights were used to kill a police officer, so why not allow him his 5th amendment rights?

Awesome how quickly party lines have been drawn here. Conservatives forced to question the actions of the police, with liberals forced to defend them. All because of the party designation of the man in the White House. Awesome.

The Cambridge police have been criticized in the past so maybe they were just being cautious:

"Now, I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact,"

    Couple of things:

    1) The suspect is 19. Unless the ACLU or a similar group rallies to his cause, he's likely gonna have a public defender, and how versed will he/she be in Miranda issues?

    2) Anyone checking his condition? Obiviouly, he's not in the greatest shape. And even though some here will fry me, but, hope he recovers so he can face trial.

Per the amendment that repealed Prohibition, let's have a frosty one and chill out.

I'm a public defender, and I can assure you that if he has one, he or she will surely be well-versed in Miranda issues.
