If anybody on this thread doesn't agree with me, I kindly invite him into the Octagon.

  4. The same chokes that have been legal in Olympic judo since it was admitted as a medal sport. So they're OK with the IOC and nearly every state athletic commission in the country, which just might carry slightly more weight than Shotglass's opinion

Your call, Bruce. You seem to have the answer nailed.

  6. OK, you win. We'll give it just as much coverage as Olympic judo.

I don't know, or particularly care, if newspapers should cover it, but maybe if they did there would be a little less misinformation about the sport. I was going to post something similar to GB. The UFC isn't some new rinky-dink operation. It has beat writers on every major sports website I can think of, has a home network geared towards its demographic and draws huge PPV numbers. I think this Elite XC show and some of these other organizations have confused things more than help, but make no mistake it's the UFC and everything else.

Are you talking when UFC or WEC or another national organization comes to town? Or the local promoter who puts on "Cage Fight III" at the local armory?

MMA not only is a sport, it's a sport that is capturing the masses. If it's capturing the masses, and we're not reporting on it ... well, then this is reason No. 423,231 our industry is dying.

We shouldn't devote an entire beat to it unless we work at a major metro, or we are in an area that is a niche, but sure, why not have a small section in the briefs for it?

About this 15-year crap: It's been a big deal for 3-4 years of that 15, and was a curiousity a couple years before that because of its portrayal on Friends.
