    At least 1.5 cents.

Type what you will. But, a 357% increase in Madison Ave.'s Golden 17 is worth a notice in any timeslot on any channel.
Males 18-35 already know what MMA is. It's hardly an oddity.

If it happens. Aren't there rumors the next MMA on CBS card has been canceled?

My point still stands. It on CBS is definitely an oddity. Still can't claim success yet.

I understand your point. But you're missing the larger one.
If this were a new show. CSI: Cleveland. And, it opened with those ratings hitting those demos on a Saturday night, Les Moonves would be skipping through CityWalk, grin ear to ear.

Well, cop shows in general have been a proven commodity for more than 50 years. Forensic procedurals have been known quantities since Quincy. The CSI franchise has been solid for about 7-8 years.

    Whole different issue.

That's the best avatar ever, dools. I miss those things. Blueberry was the best, with cherry a close second. The choclate one blew, though.

Thanks, Pal. Fun food. The chocolate will put you into diabetic shock.

I like UFC. Even if my local paper ran stories, I wouldn't read about UFC news there.

Cover it, don't cover it. I'm highly amused by some of the discussions around here where some go to great lengths to make this business -- reporting about people playing games -- into such a sacred cow. It's not. It's just a business. You sell news. If MMA news sells, then do it. If it doesn't, then don't. I hate to say it, but it's the truth these days in "these trying times."

No it won't be. I can understand if you don't follow it at all, which clearly is the case, because Saturday was a minor league operation. The ratings for the UFC are already there. The PPV's consistently out-draw boxing and the reality show consistently draws huge ratings in the targeted (and coveted) young male demographic. The sport would be better off if Elite XC never does another CBS show because that is not an accurate representation of the sport at its highest level.

You want 18-34? Get live naked lesbians for the halftime show. The young dudes love that shit.

Seriously, I watched the Kimbo Slice fight and it was revolting (and no, I couldn't appreciate the subtlety, nor can I distinguish him from the more masterful pummelers.) The gore was gross. Let's go all Roman Empire and throw a lion in there while we're at it.

Yes, it will. Whether you like it or not, the sport has a lot tied up in getting ratings and getting larger credibility on CBS. If ratings drop, that will show that the spectacle (reference my first comment) is not enough to make it anything more than a niche for frat boys to stop off at before heading to the porn.

And before people lift MMA by using the cudgel of boxing: Newspapers (and media in general) have a lot of 'splaining to do. Saying MMA should get more coverage because of coverage boxing is covering is more of an argument to reduce boxing coverage rather than one to increase MMA.
