F--- boxing

The video of Vitali Klitschko getting KOed in a kickboxing bout by Pele Reid (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=boxer&human_id=6570) has surfaced online. It's from 1992. I had heard about it for years but had never seen the video before.

The only times Vitali has been stopped in his pro boxing career are when his shoulder gave out against Chris Byrd and on cuts against Lennox Lewis. The kick that stops him here though is picture perfect.

 

Wow. He fell over like he was a tree that got chopped down in the woods.

 

BHop is a freak of nature but he really didn't fight anyone. I'd like to see BHop retire before he gets hurt. He's a great champion but he has nothing to prove. I say retire and enjoy life but you know he won't.

 

Didn't Hopkins say, once upon a time, that he was going to retire at age 40?
He's always seemed like one of the smart ones who would know when he's slipping. You'd like to think he knows what he's doing and is enough of a veteran to take calculated risks instead of foolish ones. Way too many guys have gone down the road of telling themselves "one more fight" not to be concerned, however.

 

He beat the IBF light-heavyweight champion.

 

As M. Creosote points out, a much better comparison is someone who knows exactly what he's doing, like Archie Moore.

 

That guy was a bum. He held a title but he's not a great fighter.

 

He was 24 - 0 before he fought Hopkins, and held the title for more than three years. Clearly a bum.

I knew Bhop before he became a champion. He's a great guy and one of the best interviewers - off the record and on the record - that I have met during my career.
He made a promise to his mother before she died that he'd stop at 40. He has nothing more to prove to anyone in the ring. I don't want to see him - or anyone else - hurt.
