I really enjoy some on this board's viewpoint that the Bible is a load of hogwash. It shows a lack of understanding of what the Bible really is.

I minored in Religion in college for no other reason than the fact that I enjoyed the subject. I spent a lot of time reading the Bible, and read every nook and cranny, including the Apocrypha. I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into trying to learn to read Hebrew and Greek, but gave up after graduation.

Comments such as these are asinine. No where in the Bible does it say that the Earth is 6,000 years old. That is an old unfounded interpretation drawn out by some scholar long ago trying to pull out a date. This is someone clearly going off of what they've heard or read that all Christians believe.

The most important lesson I had in my introductory religion class was that the Bible isn't journalism. Nor do many Christians think it is journalism (yes, many think it is all 100% accurate, but still others realize it's not). That's why there are contradictions.

You can find some interesting things once you except that -- like the fact that nowhere in the Bible will you find heaven written about as a place where a soul goes when you die (furthermore, a soul itself is a completely foreign concept to Judaism thought up in Greece). You'll even find a neat little book called Ecclesiastes, which says there is no afterlife at all.

Don't discount the Bible unless you actually can understand what the Bible is saying.

And don't try to put someone into a stereotypical box of what you thing a Christian is and what a Christian must believe. A reference -- Dr. Francis Collins, who led the Human Genome Project, rejects Biblical-based Creationism. He's also a devout Evangelical Christian.

It's performance art now. Do you also call for heterosexuals for have sex outside of marriage to be killed? At least be consistent.

Stitch is talking about one of the many other Leviticus pronouncements that are completely ignored by those who use Leviticus to condemn homosexuals.

What part of the posts do you not understand Stitch? I have not condemned homosexuality. I'm not God. I believe in what the Bible says about it. If you are gay and that's your thing, so be it. I'm not your God or judge. However, it is a lifestyle that I personally don't believe it.
I have many gay friends and while I may not approve of their lifestyle, they many not approve of mine as well. It doesn't stop us from having a relationship. It's about choice.
First above all else, they are human beings. I treat them the way I want to be treated. It's a good thing.
I guess what I'm trying to say, borrowing words from the late great Rodney King, we're all stuck here for a little while. Can't we just get along?

Drip, do you believe it is a choice for people to be attracted to those of the same gender?
