I sure do. On the off chance some schmuck is stupid enough to marry me, at least I'm allowed to. :)

    Poorly phrased, perhaps.

Maybe I should have asked if he's heterosexual because he wanted to be heterosexual.

Why do you care what I believe or think?

KY, honey, when you put your opinion out there, people are allowed to ask about it. It's kind of the point. This isn't just one-way communication.

That's what the whole discussion has become about; what do people believe regarding these issues?

The problem is, I'm not sure you really understand what you believe.

You say your grandparents beliefs weren't racist, but describe their opinions is ways that can only be defined as racist. (Before they did, or did not, change their beliefs.)

Now, you say claim not to have described homosexuality as a choice, despite describing it as just that.

Take any position you'd like, but it's very hard to discuss issues with you, when you claim to hold a certain position (usually the PC one), while actually describing your positions differently.

No scientific proof to say it is or isn't a choice. I BELIEVE it is, but I don't know.

And try to avoid the tired, "When did you decide to be heterosexual?" If it was that easy, academia wouldn't bother researching it.

Choice is not the opposite of genetic, or the only option if it's not genetic.

If homosexuality is not a person's choice, and they're predestined to be gay or what have you, then how do you explain one of my friends who lived the last 10-15 years as a gay man only to be engaged to the woman he got pregnant in the last few months and now claims to not be gay?

Got any answers for that, oh wise one?

So you're saying it could be a choice, but you believe it's not?

btw, I typed too fast above ... I believe that it's not a choice, but that's merely my belief. I could be wrong.

I guess he got cured of teh gay, huh? Or just changed his mind in regards to who he was attracted to, right?

Does it occur to you that sexuality is not black and white? That it could operate on a spectrum?

Your friend may be somewhere in the middle, where he's sexually attracted to both men & women.

Or, maybe he's sick of the stigma associated with homosexuality -- especially in bumblefuck -- and decided he'd rather try to live as a straight man, to satisfy his "community's standards".

And, again, predestined, and "choice" are not the only options.
