I like head-to-head because it feels like a real game. You're looking at matchups within the fantasy league as well as matchup in the real games.

I know sometimes you get good or bad breaks. I have three teams and right now, the team I think has the strongest roster is sitting in eighth place (with the third most points in the league), while maybe my weakest team is alone in first at 8-2. That's just the way it goes.

As far as Week 17 -- no, don't play Week 17.

Edit again: I can change playoffs to start week 16. I'll change that. But will also tell the league.

Last place is also just one game out of the playoffs.

Buddy in my league was the leading scorer. Missed the playoffs, finished 9th out of 12.
I've thought about a similar plan, except you just get a W for being a top 6 scorer. I've played points but it's not nearly as fun.
Best thing I can recommend is adding playoff spots. We had the same four guys making the playoffs, so we added two spots and now the top 8 of 12 are in. Kinda prevents good teams from missing the playoffs because of luck - except last year, which was weird - but the 8 seed has won the first round game the last five years.
My league has gotten better because we've focused more on fun than anything else. We eschewed tradition keeper rules and added our own - 8th round and later only, guys you traded for only, white non-QB only. At the draft this year you had to announce your keeper for 2016 and roster him the whole season. You keep him where he was drafted. Some guys went with their first-round pick, I took Josh Gordon in the 12th, a buddy took Jordy Nelson in the 9th.

I had Hurns (recently traded him), and tried to get each of the other three, but lost out on waiver priority for them. Rules in two of my leagues have resulted in me getting screwed on waiver priority - I haven't been better than 10th all year. No joke.

The last few weeks I haven't been better than 10th or 11th - but no one went after Langford for some reason. Took a flyer on Barnidge and Hurns earlier in the season.

There weren't a lot of keepers. Gronk, Decker and two others I can't recall. It was and remains funny.

I believe it. That's one of my pet peeves about Yahoo leagues -- if you make a waiver claim, you get bumped to the end of the line, no matter where you are in the standings. I am constantly churning the bottom of my roster, which means I'm always at or near the end of the waiver order. That's why my eighth-place team couldn't pick up Danny Amendola today.

That said, I have been able to grab my share of waiver studs, including Hurns, West, Karlos and DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Gates.

Took a flyer on Osweiler seeing as my QBs are Taylor and Wilson. Probably will roll with Taylor against NE.

The last couple of years of our keeper league at work, we started doing something fun for Week 17 called the "free for all."
Everybody submitted a lineup and the highest score for the week won an extra keeper pick in next year's draft. It was kind of fun, with 10 people in a head-to-head matchup. Draft Kings before Draft Kings was cool.

For our consolation bracket we also had it where the team with lowest score won. You had to submit a legitimate lineup -- no backup quarterbacks, special teamers, injured players, etc. -- and it was harder than you think.
