Just to revisit this conversation - I started Bortles in four of the last five weeks and will start him again this week in the championship. During that stretch, he has scored 11 (Brees on bye that week), 23, 32, 25, 25, while Brees has scored 8, 23, 20 and 26.

For the other top 6 teams in the playoffs, the starting QBs were Matt Stafford, Teddy Bridgewater, Ben Roethlisberger, Brady and Matt Ryan. Bortles was better than all of them except Brady, and that guy got eliminated in the first round.

And of the guys you listed, Bortles was better than all except Brady and Cam. Glad I held onto him in this league.

That said, trading Cam for Allen Robinson (to rely on Brees and Bortles) in my other league is an all-time worst trade for me. Cam has thrown for five TDs and 40+ points three times since the trade. I missed the playoffs and the other guy is in the title game.

Robinson gave me a consistent 15 ppg, with one 43-point effort mixed in, so he was solid, but unspectacular. If I'd stayed Cam at QB and Tavon Austin (or just about any other average WR), I'd be in the title game instead of missing the playoffs.

Prediction: The "I never take a quarterback early, but this year I'm making an exception for Cam" column will be written about 5,000 times next summer.

Blake Bortles IS an elite fantasy QB this season.

A weird year for QBs. Luck goes down, Rodgers struggles (relatively), Brees' (relative) decline continues, Ryan has an awful year and guys like Bortles and Carr are leading teams to fantasy success.

Yep, top four. Not too shabby.

Carr and Bortles have more TDs than Rodgers. Who would have predicted that? Eli has more TDs than all of them, although for some reason he doesn't seem to be a regular on too many successful fantasy teams this year. At least in the leagues I'm familiar with anyway.

He was very boom or bust. He'd score 13 points one week, 50 the next and 15 the week after that. Tough to win consistently with your QB playing up and down like that.

So I have Carr playing tonight, but I'm very nervous about it. I actually tried to pick up Cousins, but another team beat me to it (actually, it was partly my own fault, but that's another post).

I'm also debating whether to play Woodhead -- LeSean McCoy is my usual starter but he's hurt. I also have Denard Robinson, but I'm not sure about his health or Yeldon's. I usually start Ivory at the other RB spot, but he's slumped badly. I picked up Bilal Powell, who had been much more productive the past month, and will probably start him over Ivory against the Pats. James White is also available. So is Mike Gillislee.

I am starting Carr in one league (over Cousins, who I just picked up) and while it's always nerve-wracking when your QB plays early, he's thrown 30 TDs this year. He's been pretty consistent. Cousins has been really good lately, but I'd feel much better about him this week if the game was in Maryland.

I am starting Cousins over Philip Rivers in another league. Rivers has been wildly inconsistent, Cousins has been quite steady since midseason and the Eagles have no secondary left.

On a related note, I'm hoping that game is actually tomorrow.

I'm facing a team this week that has Rivers and Rodgers. Hoping he sticks with Rivers based on last week and that inconsistency rears its head.
