I wouldn't be able to walk out. That's just me.

Worked with Laura Frank and her husband. Good people, and I can easily imagine her risking her neck for a story. Best of luck getting back on your feet.

What about doing your job one last day the best you can — not for the execs, but out of loyalty to the subscribers who made it possible for you to have that job in the first place?

Exactly. You don't walk because you owe it to the people sitting in the cubicle next to you, and to the idea of journalism. To the people who've invited you into their homes for generations. You do it to say goodbye, for closure if for nothing else.

Well, I do it for the severance and unemployment benefits. But your reasons are cool too :)

    Exactly.

Then upper deck 'em on the way out.

You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game."

I shall finish the game, Doc.

BigRed, you can obviously relate to what I ranted about in my earlier post, especially if you were lucky enough to sit in on one of those Ken Lowe/Rick Boehne meetings with the flashy videos and slideshows highlighting HGTV, DIY, The Food Network and Shopzilla. The writing was on the wall right there that these guys had absolutely no respect and no love lost for newspapers. Today just cemented that theory!!

Just watched one of the videos of the announcement and saw the picture of the dad with his little girl.

Powerful stuff, but it's kind of disturbing to see that stuff on the site.

Best of luck to you, Milehigh, and everyone at the paper.

I'm guessing we'll be getting an announcement about Ringolsby going to one of the major websites very soon.
