Many staffers provided their bios on a Web site when the sale was announced. You can access them at IWantMyRocky.com

From that site, posted today ...

So did he just turn right around and head back?

When I first read the news, I cried. I don't cry often. Now I'm just numb.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by this.

I'm not positive about this but I recall that Sadowski was at the Forum (I was there, too) covering a Kings-Flyers game the night the Philadelphia Bulletin went under. The Bulletin beat guy went to the game anyway even though he had no paper to file to. He said, "I didn't know what else to do."

Rick told me he was on the road -- I want to say it was Boston -- when he worked at the L.A. Herald Examiner when it went under.

MH: That comic is so heartbreaking. I just hope it's true. I hope people wake up and realize they've lost something from their daily life.

I didn't cry, but I was damn close in the newsroom today.

What kills me is that the RMN got the shaft, and the people I know there whom I consider good people and good journalists got the shaft. They didn't give up, even when Scripps gave up on them.

If you're on Facebook, there's a Toast The Rocky event. And, agreed, if you cross paths with Rick Sadowski tonight, please buy that man a drink. The same goes for any Rocky staffer you meet. I wish I could.

Maybe it's best to be on the road and not have to hear all the corporate nonsense in person.

These are the same people who believe they are being persecuted for their religious beliefs, the same people who believe that vaccines are a government plot to cause autism.

    The above, totally uncalled for.

Actually, I will say the Scripps honchos were very stand up in the two newsroom meetings today. There was shock and disbelief at the first one. The mob arrived for the second one and they got grilled. But they stood there and took it.

The JOA is controlled like 95-5 by Gannett, which owns the Free Press. So if anyone is going, it's going to be the News. The News is not the one worried about netting the money. Their circ has dropped like a stone the past three and a half years. Anyway, this is horrible news for the employees at the RMN. Everytime a newspaper folds itself with one or two days notice, it's a very black day in our business.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the RMN staffers. I wish you all the best.
