Was reading some of the bios on IWantMyRocky.com. I like this from Lincicome, nice bit of defiance:

I think about these things now, as everyone here at the Rocky must, and I recall my last sight of Jimmy Cannon, trapped in a crush of media types (by then “press” had become “media”) pressed together with no room to move, pushed by the weight of all those ominous TV cameras, mere newspaper slugs being swept without control towards the Orange Bowl lockerroom where Namath waited.

“We are not animals!” screamed Cannon. About that he was right. We are not furniture either.

    Can't be said enough, bp.

As my HS hockey coach used to say when we were doing Herbies, anyone can skate almost all the way to the line.

We skate all the way through it.

So do the folks at the RMN.

    Pros until the end.

Who is the short dude between Elway and the other horse-faced football player Bronco? Is that the Broncos owner?

  5. No words. I'm just sorry. This is unreal.

It is tough to look at because it hits so close to home for everyone of us.

But Simon is right -- the impact of this story is in the photos and great photos make the difference in telling stories like this one.

Think 9/11 without the photos of buildings crumbling, firemen covered in soot, people with blood stumbling out of the ashes -- it is a different story and one not told as well.

Those of us who love this business, we love the beauty of telling a story and making it impactful and there is nothing better than a few well-shot photos to enhance the words.

My heart goes out to all of the RMN staff, their families and anyone else impacted by this decision.

We live in tough times, indeed.

They're off the floor at 11:45 ET. Those of us who aren't working, it would be nice if we could toast them as they wrap up their final deadline shift.

    I will.

We're slamming through this edition. The last one goes at 11:45 p.m. MST. It's starting to sink in.

Ah. My bad then. I knew one edition was done in 20 minutes.

Ignore my ramblings. I'll toast EVERY edition. :D

I thought 11:45 p.m. EST was a bit early, but then again you never know.
