Cool idea. Can't wait to get a closer look and see the detail. And that must have been bittersweet to see the first one on this day.

The Rocky Mountain News is the paper that sparked my passion for newspapers and journalism. My parents have always subscribed to both Denver papers, but the Rocky was the one I always picked up first and read thoroughly as a kid. In college, at the height of the Denver newspaper war, I could subscribe to either for what seemed like $5 for a semester (shows you have bitter, or bad things were getting in that battle). I chose the Rocky every time. Got teased eating breakfast in the dining hall and reading my paper, being called an old man. And that was before the Internet really kicked in. It's not hard to say there was a time when working at the RMN would have been a dream job. I have worked closely with many who have ties to the Rocky and I feel for all of them. I'm out of newspapers now and my passion still burns deeply for them and hate what is happening. This is a terrible day. My dad is picking up a copy for me tomorrow -- in addition to the one he'll get on his doorstep -- and I can't wait to see it and keep it.

sj apparently automatically resizes photos posted here. Here's the link to my photobucket pic of the commemorative page, if you want to see it larger.

Literally sent a chill up and down my spine.

By the grace of God, etc., etc. ...

Least I could do, and I mean that quite literally.

I don't feel out of line for saying this, but everyone on this board will help in any way they can. Please don't hesitate.

    Exactly.

That A-1 cover photo, MileHigh. It's the only one I've looked at today. Makes my heart sink, too.

You don't want to see the rest. Great photos, great work, but extremely chilling.

MH, who is the guy on the left side of the front cover? The pictures of him earlier today just made me cry...I think it was the wedding ring, that he had to call his wife and tell her what happened.

    Beautiful pages, btw. Weepy again.

(and if the cover hits you ... see dad/little girl. if I look at it again, will absolutely get dusty in here all over again.)

The cutline says it's staffer Brian Clark. The guy on the right is Eric Brown.
