    I saw that.

One of the photos that got me was of the photog at the spring training game on his phone hearing the news. God, what it must have been like today. I can't imagine.

Tracy, your friends at the equally doomed P-I are thinking of you today. Someone sent out a copy of the 1980 staff phone list today, with yours and some other names I'm sure would bring back memories. I'll email it to you.

And Dave Niehaus wanted to know if I thought you'd be OK. I told him i was sure you would be. :)

I don't know a single person at the Rocky Mountain News, but I feel like I know them all now. I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight. How weird is that? I just feel ... sick.

    Classy post, Tracy.

It's not. I feel the same way.

I don't think it's weird. I mean, we're all journalists. We're all in this together -- from the biggest metro to the smallest weekly, we're all in this stuff together.

I had to stop looking at the photos when I got to the one of presentation designer Kim Humphreys hugging her bewildered 4-year old daughter.

  11. Best of luck to everyone at the RMN. You're all in my prayers.

Glad you all were able to close it out with your heads held high.

Litton's sports cartoons have always been great. This one is no exception. MH, you know where I stand here from PMs. All the best to all of you. You deserved so much better. Many of us (probably all of us, to at least some degree) deserve so much better.

And somehow, the Eastwood line from "Unforgiven" just popped into mind -- "Deserve's got nothing to do with it."

I grew up with this paper, figured I'd work there at some point; almost did, but the timing just wasn't right when the opportunity came along. This is stunningly sad. As much as I can believe it, with everything else that's happening, I still can't believe it.
