What blows me away is how big the RMN is/was.

I had no idea it is bigger than the Seattle Times, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Austin, San Antonio, etc.

  2. You know something about Chicago that we don't?

Wow, that makes my stomach hurt.

This is going to be one of those "where were you when you heard the news" moments for those of us who follow the industry (I say follow b/c so many of us here have already been kicked to the curb).

Unbelievable. There's not a hot enough place in hell for these cocksucking robber barons who are sucking the soul out of America.

That doesn't include Tampa/St. Pere or the South Florida papers.

It's good that the WARN act gets them 60 days and that they are also gettting severance, but wouldn't it be most cost-effective to put out a product if you are paying those people anyway? This is the dumb thinking that gets newspapers in trouble.

At least folks will have income for a few months - I doubt a lot of other companies would do that.

    More from the live blog:

Temple outlines Friday’s paper; small business section, very small sports section. Big front section.

Some gut-wrenching photos from the announcement on the RMN Web site.

Is that even a list of two-paper cities?

Why can't the Post hire some of these people?
