So the bad beer and boxed wine party was a smashing success. 7-Eleven was a MASSIVE letdown in the area of disreputable wines and malt cooler beverages, so I bought the only ones they offered in either category (Wild Irish Rose and B&J Strawberry Daiquiri). Wild Irish Rose finished second in the contest, which apparently was actually worst-tasting, not most original. The winner -- Cave Creek chili beer. Shit was gross, but I tried to protest on the grounds that for as godawful as it was, there's no way you can buy a twelve-pack for less than $9. No dice.

The Black Label was pretty fucking awful. The Hurricane wasn't so bad. Naturally, someone brought PBR. One of the boxed wines tasted like lukewarm sweet tea that had gone sour -- not exactly the thing you want from a blush.

Upset of the night: Despite plenty of shit beer and wine (and two shots of Jack, one of espresso vodka and a double Maker's and coke with a splash of buttershots), I was not hung over the next morning!

I paid my penance at the beer store today, buying a four-pack of Dogfish Head Midas Touch, a four-pack of Oskar Blues Gordon Ale and a bomber of Southern Tier Pumking.

I'm convinced that Black Label is the only beer made from salt water.

  4. Belgians are terrible. Do not like them at all.

My favorite beer has changed over the years, but right now it's Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Fantastic.

Just ran through some great Octoberfests today/tonight (started tailgating at 8am, it's now 4 am...I'm too old for this shit)

    Atwater Brewery's Rocktoberfest
    Sam Adams'
    New Belgium's Hoptoberfest

those were the top 3 of the span...then again, shots food and other crap (lack of sleep?) dulled some of the taste buds perhaps.

Tried many dark beers and European beers. Guess like beer in the first place, you need to acquire a taste for that stuff.

Love me some Boulevard Wheat. Good, good stuff.

Agree on the Double Chocolate Stout. Always a go-to beer - along with Guinness - on Christmas Day. Nothing like a couple of those with a fire going on a Saturday night in the winter.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout is awesome. I like me a good Oatmeal Stout too. Has anyone ever had a banana bread beer? I can't remember who makes it.

I just bought me some Spaten Oktoberfest and Shiner Oktoberfest to enjoy during the Miami v. New York game. I don't know why I bought the Shiner though. All their beers taste the same. I should've bought the Spaten Optimators. Oh well, you live and learn, right? Well, I guess not when you are drinking.

I tried Founders Cerise a couple weeks ago and can't get enough of it. Need to try other varieties of Founders.

    Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

If any of you rat bastards want to drink some real bier on Friday Oct. 15, 2010 around the Dallas, TX area meet me at the Bavarian Grill. Some friends and I are going to get our German on, the more the merrier.

My list of beers drank over the last day:

    New Glarus Totally Naked
    New Glarus Spotted Cow
    New Glarus Moon Man
    Sam Adams Boston Lager
    Bell's Two Hearted Ale
    Summit Wheat Beer
    Arcadia Ale Scotch Ale
    New Belguim Hoptober

That's just what was in the fridge, still grabbing a few while I watch Purdue/NW, mainly because I am hoping that starting Dan Persa over Dwight Dasher for my college fantasy team was a good idea this week. So far? No.
