Cracker Barrel is actually OK, foodwise, IMO.

Almost all the "fine dining" restaurants in Boston are part of groups, some smaller, like four or five, some quite large, 20-plus or so. Rents make it impossible for a standalone restaurant to survive. They can't get enough capital and landlords won't rent to them.

We were on the road in Louisiana a million years ago and stopped at a hotel off the highway and the little restaurant was Cracker Barrel. We were all tired and we just wanted to get a little food and go to sleep. I ordered a BLT with mayonnaise on the side. My food came after my family's and there was about an inch of mayo ON THE SANDWICH. I said I ordered the mayonnaise on the side. She said I'll let me get you another. Mind you, my family was already eating. I just asked for a plain piece of toast to replace that mayonnaise-laden slice. She did manage to do that in a timely basis. I have only eaten at Cracker Barrel once in the ensuing 13 years and only because my very old father-in-law wanted to stop there.

Not sure if it was discussed earlier: Panda Express

When I've told co-workers and my sister that I enjoying eating there once in a while (maybe 2x a month), you'd think I was the witch trying to eat Hansel and Gretel by their reaction.

Their hatred for Panda Express seems over the top . Is it authentic Asian food? No. But you can get a "plate" combo with a couple of decent meat-and-veggie entrees for less than the "value" meals at, say, Wendy's or McDonald's. And they taste a lot better IMHO.

Ask Randy Marsh what one of Panda Express' competitors can reportedly cause ...

It’s actually because they have people in there cleaning them literally all the time.

I have never stepped foot into a Chipotle and for some bizarre reason I am proud of that.

I just heard a teenage girl ask her waiter if the Waffle House eggs are cage free. I think that might be in Revelation.

So ... an egg-white omelette with kippers is not on the menu along with hash browns – scattered, smothered and covered?

The first time I went to a Wegman's, which isn't a chain restaurant but could be given all the options there pre-COVID, the bathrooms were so clean it blew me away. And big. I think I would have been happy living there even with all the randos coming in to drop one.

When I was on the Virginia Tech beat and making the drive from Richmond way too often, there was a Sheetz about halfway where I'd stop. Sure wouldn't call it the best but the food was decent, the gas was reasonable and the crappers were clean. Not like Wegman's or even close. But clean. I could empty out, fill up and eat (and get very good coffee) very quickly.

Sheetz > Wawa. There, I said it.

Maybe Amy can check this out and report in. Just north of Yermo on I-15 (before you get to Baker, the Gateway to Death Valley), there is a place called Eddie World. They have a food court with 3 or 4 choices. The main part of the place sells any kind of candy you can think of. There are also something like 96 gas pumps.
But we're talking about clean bathroom. Both have two sides that are both large. They can close one side for cleaning while keeping the other side open and not make people wait. On the stall handles, there was a mechanism that dispensed plastic wrap covers automatically. On the toilet flushers, too. Never saw that before.

I'm annoyed with bathrooms that only have one stall. I imagine the cost to install a second hopper isn't insignificant, but if you're already doing plumbing work in the room anyway...

The bathrooms in our new offices, where we moved post-shutdown, have it where you can use your foot to open the door.
