Not one mention of David Gilmour.

    The communists have won.

David Gilmour is a personal favorite. I should've thought of him, too.
I also left out Mike Bloomberg, Ketih Richards, Mick Taylor and Peter Green.

Thanks for mentioning Terry Kath. Tremendous player drove Chicago's early albums. Hendrix was a huge fan.
Great guitar solos on "That Smell".

Jerry Garcia will always be my main man.

Many of his solos from 1977 and 1987 (the Grateful Dead's two peak years) are close to religious experiences.

As a solo guy, couldn't agree more.

For rhythm, you simply can't beat Keith Richards. He's made an amazing career out of not-too hard-to-play riffs in open G tuning. Listen (loudly) to the first 30 seconds of Can't You Hear Me Knockin' and tell me that's not one of the best riffs in rock and roll history.

The line starts with Jimi Hendrix with Eric Clapton, Ernie Isley, Eddie Van Halen and Mike Hazel rounding out the starting top 5.

Can't You Hear Me Knockin' is awfully good, but my favorite Keith Richards riff is on Soul Survivor, from Exile. When they get to the bridge near the end, where he and Nicky Hopkins are hitting those chords in unison, it's close to Stones perfection.

He's not just a kickass mayor and a captain of business.
He also slings a mean ax.
