When I think of that song, I think of Elisabeth Shue in the opening credits of "Adventures in Babysitting."

    Homina.

Many here I agree with but will let pass without comment.

    Also, these:

Paul Newman's summation in "The Verdict."

The actual verdict scene as well.

The stunning final reveal from "The Prestige."
No damn you, watch the whole thing. No cheating.

Dalton lays down the rules in "Road House."

The opening of Citizen Kane, with its pitch-perfect newsreel.

The last reel of "The Cotton Club." Yes, I said "The Cotton Club."

    Almost forgot:

    Hammer time, from "Old Boy"

Personally, I prefer the fight scene after Dalton knocks Jimmy off the motorbike in "Roadhouse."

Jimmy: "I used to fuck guys like you in prison."
Dalton: "You are such an asshole."

I laugh every time I see that part. I don't know why it strikes me so funny. Especially the emphasis on 'such.' It's something you'd say to some prick frat brother, not the guy you're trying to kill.

Since it was on tonight, Office Space. Surely it's been mentioned.
Too many great scenes. Beating the crap out of the copier; Joanne flipping off the boss; 'Not now Lumberg, I'm kinda busy here' as Peter plays Tetris. Oh, what a great movie.

And some more that I've thought of:

The climax of Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train", with the carousel scene:

Billy Crystal in his mother's funeral scene for "Mr. Saturday Night": A scene that starts out sad, then Crystal starts telling jokes, and then sums up his mother's large arms by talking about how it was the safest place to be when she hugged him.

Sally Field in the funeral scene in "Steel Magnolias", especially when she's told to hit Ouisa (I lost my man card a while ago):

In "Sleeping with the Enemy", when Julia Roberts' character dances with her neighbor to "Runaround Sue".

"Hoosiers" (of course), when they measure the dimensions of the court at Hinkle.

Wedgewood! Your photo says it all; thanks for the reminder.

(First, an aside: Great call on "The Verdict"; one of those movies I always forget about, for no good reason. And the scenes alluded to are fantastic.)

But the Wilford Brimley scene at the end of "Absence of Malice," seriously, might be my favorite single scene of all time, no matter what you think of the rest of the movie. There are only about 10 great lines in about 10 minutes, most but not all by him. Right up to "You've got 30 days."

I know it's been mentioned, but the Copa scene in Goodfellas has to be one of the best movie sequences ever shot.

Also, in Good Will Hunting, the scene at the construction site in which Affleck tells Damon in no uncertain terms that he needs to take the opportunity his talent has given him.

My single favorite scene in Hoosiers: "You did it Shooter! You did it Dad!" Hopper was so good in that movie.

I love that scene in GWH. Hell, that whole film is brilliant.
