Good one. I also love the scene right when Kimble jumps and Gerard is explaining it to Cosmo, and then ordering the deputies to drag the river for him. There's two words in there that Tommy Lee Jones tells you everything you need to know about Gerard with the way he delivers it. In the tunnel, when Kimble has the gun pointed at him, Gerard is just doing his job of trying to bring the guy in. A couple minutes later, though, Kimble has defied him, eluded him, made him look bad and gotten under his skin. He's pissed off Gerard, but it's more than that. Kimble wounded his pride. Now it's personal, and TLJ nails that delivery perfectly to show that. "All right ... Can we go home now?" "No! No."
My fav in Aliens when the Marines get back and Paul Reiner says something like “we need to back out there” and Bill Paxton responds: “I don’t if you’ve been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked out there”
You have to know the movie to understand the context, but this is the most perfect bit of moviemaking ever ...
A close second. Even though this particular clip is pixilated (old Youtube), you get the point. A remarkable sequence from an amazing movie. The only thing that keeps "Night Of The Hunter" out of the top movie of all-time slot is a rather anti-climactic ending. Apart from that, it's basically perfect, and this ethereal river scene with its cinematography to die for is a big highlight. If Robert Mitchum had only ever made this movie, he'd still be a legend. An all-time baddie.
