Wow. I knew none of this, never heard of Savatage. Wiki has a very lengthy entry on them. Stayed up past my bedtime last night checking it out. Thanks for the into. BYH.

Jennifer Cella sidejack: Even when the sound quality sucks,
she makes a cheesy '80s hit LOOK good ... ... ... DAMN good!

Wife loves Christmas music, mostly Der Bingle and Sinatra. I got some relief when I introduced her to "Quality Street," Nick Lowe's excellent Christmas album. I tried but failed to get her into the treasury of doo-wop Christmas tunes.

What's the closest comp to Savatage? Queensryche perhaps?

Of their contemporaries (and in order). probably Shadow Gallery, Crimson Glory, Virgin Steele, and some Fates Warning on their Perfect Symmetry and Parallels albums.

If you like TSO, try everything from Gutter Ballet onward. You might not like half of Edge of Thorns as it's an updated take on the the more traditional metal they did on Sirens through Hall of The Mountain King.

One of my favorite feel-good Christmas videos.
Recorded during a sound check, wasn't it?
