But you're insinuating that the NCAA has rigged the process regarding the Newton situation when there is absolutely there is no evidence of that.

People who are paying attention and understand how the NCAA works know that what is happening with this process is what always happens. The NCAA moves at a glacial pace with regards to investigations. There is nothing sinister about what's happening here.

Does that mean the process is perfect? Of course not. But to suggest they're intentionally dragging their feet and should be hauled into court for it is fucking ridiculous and smells like TCU/Boise homerism.

Now if you have some evidence it's rigged, let's fucking hear it.

I have watched TCU play this year. I have watched Boise play this year. I have watched Oregon, Auburn, Stanford, LSU, and Ohio State play this year.

From what I have observed, I think that the gap between the teams is more akin to the two games I referenced than to the two games you referenced.

Hey, if they get in there, I'll be cheering like hell for them, just like I was for Butler last year.

But I just wish that they could earn their trip to the championship game the same way Butler did.

I agree completely. I have no idea if Boise or TCU can beat Auburn or Oregon or vice versa. That's why I'd like to see them play. For all we know, in a playoff Wisconsin or LSU could wind up champs, and if they could, great.

Playoffs don't always stop the NCAA's insanity. Witness the Division III bracket.

Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mount Union have met in the title game five straight years. Both teams are again unbeaten this year and both teams throttled everyone. D3 has 32 teams in the playoffs and there is always controversy about the final few teams who don't get in.

But this year, new strangeness: Whitewater (hi Old_Tony) - defending national champs - is a No. 2 seed in one of the 8-team regions. Mount is a 1 but is the third seed overall, meaning they'd have to hit the road in the semifinals. The No. 1 overall seed is Wesley, who routinely gets drilled against good teams in the playoffs. St. Thomas - who I hate and barely beat my Johnnies - is the No. 2 seed overall, top in their region.

In the end,it probably won't matter and WW and Mount will meet in the Stagg Bowl for a sixth straight year. And it has gotten really old seeing them play year after year. But the seedings are ludicrous.

Shouldn't you best posting on the D-III thread? In any case, thanks for the food for thought...and for sharing with us that the D-III championship game is known as the Stagg Bowl.

Boise-Auburn would be a hell of a game, right up until the point Chizik told Nick Fairley it was OK to take out Kellen Moore by any means possible. Chizik is the bad sensei from the early Karate Kid movies. "Sweep the leg. You got a problem with that?"

And now for something completely different: The last time I interviewed Chizik for more than 60 seconds, he was coaching Jeremiah Trotter as Stephen F. Austin linebackers coach.

The last time I interviewed Chizik's OC Gus Malzahn was the night he won his first Class AA state title at Shiloh Christian.

I remember not too long ago, the argument was, If Boise or TCU gets into a BCS bowl game, they are going to get absolutely run. Not sure why you would use Cincy -- a BCS-conference champion -- to make a point about teams from non-BCS conferences like the Mountain West or WAC, though.
