I'm may be the only person on planet SportsJournalists.com that really follows the MAC, but NIU deserves some credit. Far and away the best team in the conference. Only other team in the discussion is Temple, who NIU has already beaten by 14 (albeit in DeKalb).

Not really sure what to expect from the Buckeyes this weekend, vs. PSU. Lions have seemed to come up with a bit of offense over the last couple weeks, although two of those games were against really poor defenses (Minnesota & Michigan) & Northwestern...who just seemed to melt down in the 2nd half. The new QB that they trotted out last week looked good, but playing in Columbus is a whole different beast. Tosu has been pretty chewed up with defensive injuries, but they do get a couple of LB's back this weekend.

Buckeyes are also coming off a bye, which one would think would be a positive. However, the 'Vest's teams haven't historically looked real sharp off of byes.

    Or....maybe I'm just a panicky, fanboi doofus. Still, it's a 17.5 / 18 point spread. Seems like a LOT o' wood.

    Why isn't the field purple?

wow, that's insane. was thinking 10, maybe 13. definitely can't see PSU winning but don't see them losing by 3 TDs.

Because it's Texas and in Texas football fields are green not blue or red.

So the WAC loses Boise State, Fresno State and Nevada and adds Texas-San Antonio, Texas State and ... Denver?

Good deal for Denver as it didn't make much sense in the Sun Belt, but a curious move for the WAC.

Ah yes, Dennis "bleeping" Lundy. If memory serves me, Iowa won 56-7. Should have been 56-14 until Mr. Lundy remembered that he had money on the game. He took Iowa and the over.

I have to pull out an old audio tape of Imus' show and find that Warner Wolf bit when he said "If you took Iowa and 49 points...you lost!!" and went on to report on Lundy pleading guilty.

The way NW has played against Iowa, including beating the Hawks before Ohio State did, I hope Adrian Clayborn will be chasing Dan Persa around like a lion with the speed of a cheetah.

I truly hate those bastards on the North Side. More than Iowa State and Illinois combined. Minny and Wisky still the top 2 hated rivals, but NW is right up there.

    Screw you Gary Barnett.

Which means that the Frogs will have a much nicer half-filled stadium for their home games.

Any truth to the rumor that in order to keep a connection with the old stadium they're going to keep the press box elevator?

    ;D

Any time you ask somebody about something in Texas, this is pretty much the standard reply.

Amon Carter hasn't been half-filled in a while. But never let facts get in the way of a good story.

Man, the Big East is a joke. That explains how a team like Pitt has the biggest lead of any first-place team in any conference with an automatic BCS bid.

The Panthers actually looked like they were starting to put UConn away until they gave up a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the final play of the third quarter.

Disagree. Horns either squeak out a win or, far more likely, get slaughtered. Can it be baseball season yet? :)
