UCLA won a title under Tommy Prothro in the 50s. Don't know if it was outright though.

The Oregon State-TCU game at Texas Stadium drew 46,138

Red Sanders was the UCLA coach when it won the national title. Tommy Prothro went to UCLA as the head coach in 1965.

The ACC Champ automatically goes to the Orange Bowl if it doesn't go to the title game. Virginia Tech, presumably, is going to the Orange Bowl. Who they play will be up to the Orange Bowl.

I was there. About 20,000 of them were from OSU.

OU and BYU drew 75,437 the same weekend a year ago.
A&M and Arkansas drew 65,622 a month ago.

That "Labor Day" reference is key, there. Sports degeneracy actually takes a back seat to family
activities in a significant number of cases on the days in question.

This is the first time I've seen someone blame a long weekend for poor attendance at an event.

    Me too. Pretty funny.

TCU can't fill their own stadium. Doesn't matter when they play.

Setting aside the ability of TCU to draw fans, it is true the NFL moved the opening weekend of its season back from Labor Day weekend to avoid no-shows (not loss of ticket sales in many cases) at games due to the holiday outdoor recreational competition.

In my hometown, one of the schools used to play one of its biggest rivals on Labor Day weekend, and it always got a great crowd.

The FSU-Miami game, for a while, was played that weekend BECAUSE it was Labor Day.

There was no way 20,000 were from OSU. TCU has 8,000 undergrads and maybe 50,000 living graduates. I was there too and I'll disagree with your estimation.

You're a tool. TCU has sold out the last three home games. For some reason you hate TCU and facts.

Kind of an instate game there, little difference than a local team playing a west coast team.
