I have a minor in poly sci, and I seem to recall every professor who taught about Hitler and his time period referring to him as a fascist, meaning he was a right-wing nationalist. Guess everything I learned in college was wrong. I'll have to throw it out now that the great and almighty JDV has spoken.

There can't be fun/uplifting threads when JDV is posting on them. He believes he's right about EVERYTHING, including women, and the threads he graces with his presence are no longer fun or uplifting.

You're right, sportschick. He apparently believes his major in POL (it's poli or poly, JDV) Sci is better than the rest of our respective educations. Maybe he just doesn't remember it correctly. I graduated two years ago, so I probably remember my education better than he does. That aging thing really affects the memory, JDV.

What was posted

1.) Hitler joined and led workers socialist party - what is that? uhh socialists. Yeah names MEAN something

2.) What did they want to do? Uhh destroy/fight capitalism (kinda popular back then in Europe)

3.) What did he himself espouse in his 25 point plan leading the party?

a.) All income not earned from work to be confiscated (i.e. no investment income or private ownership!) - this is VERY Marxian

b.) Point 7 = "We demand that the State shall above all undertake to ensure that every citizen shall have the possibility of living decently and earning a livelihood." What does that sound like?

c.) Point 12 = "all personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as treason to the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits" What does that sound like - see above

d.) Point 13 = "We demand the nationalization of all trusts."

e.) Point 14 = "We demand profit-sharing in large industries."

f.) Point 15 = "We demand a generous increase in old-age pensions."

g.) Point 16 = "We demand the creation and maintenance of a sound middle-class, the immediate communalization of large stores which will be rented cheaply to small tradespeople, and the strongest consideration must be given to ensure that small traders shall deliver the supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities"

h.) Point 17 = "We demand an agrarian reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to expropriate the owners without compensation of any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land."

I.) Point 19 = "We demand that Roman law, which serves a materialist ordering of the world, be replaced by German common law."

J.) Point 20 = "In order to make it possible for every capable and industrious German to obtain higher education, and thus the opportunity to reach into positions of leadership, the State must assume the responsibility of organizing thoroughly the entire cultural system of the people. The curricula of all educational establishments shall be adapted to practical life. The conception of the State Idea (science of citizenship) must be taught in the schools from the very beginning. We demand that specially talented children of poor parents, whatever their station or occupation, be educated at the expense of the State."

k.) Point 25 = "In order to carry out this program we demand: the creation of a strong central authority in the State, the unconditional authority by the political central parliament of the whole State and all its organizations."

No what does all of that sound like to you?

He's going against some of the basics of poly sci in his posts, with the Hitler was a leftist bullshit. While the end results of fascism and communism can be similar, the thought processes behind them are vastly different.

How many people have to tell you that you're wrong, JDV, before it actually sinks in? Do you have that much of an ego that you believe you're ALWAYS right? Let me let you in on a little secret -- you're not right in this case.

Oh, and how many U.S. politicians show significant sides of being under the beliefs of another party, but they ran with the party which could get them elected? I can think of one very prominent figure -- YOUR governor.

As far as my political background & education, asked and answered dude many times & very strong. You have a good background in Canadian politics, cool. You want to sign a book for me, awesome.

But that doesn't change the fact that Hitler WAS a socialist.

Some professor saying fascism = right wing
or
Racism = right wing
or
Nationalism means right wing

Means nothing & is also wrong

4 to 5 people on the SJ board telling me I am wrong also means nothing.

Once again, in yet another subject, facts are facts.

Hitler's was the member of two Socialist parties. His OWN PLATFORM can be read above and mimics many Socialist and Marxist ideals around the globe, point-by-point!

Again, socialism was a way station for Hitler to ..oh right totalitarianism! Exactly as I said. Of course, to get there you have to wipe out all real political opposition.

Hitler was on the same track as Stalin only that he amassed a bit more power in himself as opposed to a party, but actually Stalin was quite powerful as well and practically there was little difference. In another analogy you could see Kim Jung Il (sp?) as being fairly similar to Hitler in many ways (leftist & fascist).

If you STILL do not beleive me here is a rather detailed work on the subject with copius research by a Phd on the subject that will provide you with some very strong evidence from Hitler's own words and those of other leading Socialists & Marxists at the times:

Last but not least, the MAIN point is not proving if Hitler was right or left (although it is clear to me) rather it is what were his policies, and what do those policies naturally lead to?

Protecting our freedom and liberty (social, political, & economic) is critical for all of us.

JDV. you are a blowhard.

And yes, names mean something.

You have been comprehensively trounced in this argument by board members quoting from numerous texts stating that Hitler was anything but a socialist. You quote your own qualifications and behave as though being a wire monkey at CNN qualifies you as a journalist and a poli sci degree means you are the only member of this board with any kind of knowledge or experience of this subject.

Your egotism has been shown to know no bounds. You need an editor desperately. It's time to go home.

Thanks Fenian, for your response that got buried in the rest of this rubble. That must have been one hell of a grudge to vote for the guy who pardoned Nixon.
