That's fine if the non-local prosecutor does that. At least it gets rid of the conflict of interest, even if it's just perceived.

Just saw LeBron talking about wearing an "I Can't Breathe" t-shirt and thought he was pretty gutless about it. He wore the shirt and then, when asked about the meaning behind it and what impact it can have on society if he and other stars wear it, he basically walked it back and called it "more of a shout out to the family than anything."

Way to stand up for your principles, LeBron. ::)

It's not much of a stand if you don't actually stand behind the sentiment and message you are trying to convey.

You wouldn't have seen MJ wearing that t-shirt in a million years.

He would've had Quinn Buckner wear it for him.

Any money to be made selling T-shirts that read?:

    "1. Inhale
    2. Exhale
    3. Repeat"

Yeah, but what happens if the non-local prosecutor continues to rule in favor of the cops, not because the evidence is there but because of a preexisting bias toward the badge, in general?

Or, at least, if the folks see it as that

I think there is an inherent conflict of interest for a local prosecutor to pursue charges against police he/she works with.

I think the process should start with an investigation by investigators and a prosecutor from outside the area. Sure, it might still be biased, but at least you're making an attempt to avoid the conflict of interest.

As an alum, I am embarrassed. And the feeling is unanimous among a non-scientific poll of my classmates.
