The Brown family attorney looks like Isaiah Thomas with similar mannerisms and
speech pattern. I would like to hear him say Anuka

You'd be fully comfortable describing an 18-year-old white college freshman as a kid.

Michael Brown's death, IMHO, is yet another tragic remnant of our country's complicated back-story with regard to race and the black community's history with law enforcement.

Unless you've ever lived in an urban environment, it's impossible to understand the level of mistrust/contempt/hostility many blacks feel for the police officers who patrol their neighborhoods.

It obviously doesn't justify Brown's behavior -- punching Wilson in the face, trying to grab his gun and ultimately charging at him -- but the lack of respect many inner-city black males hold for the police does explain (at least somewhat) why Brown would challenge the authority of a smaller white officer in the first place.

Unfortunately, many of the cities where police-citizen relations are most strained also tend to be the most dangerous.

It's tough to blame officers for having a "shoot first" mentality. They want to go home to their families at the end of their shifts just like the rest of us. I don't doubt there are many times where it is literally a "somebody's going to die here, and it's not gonna be me" scenario.

The problem is, every time a police officer roughs up or shoots a young black man, it becomes that much more impossible for the black community to regard law enforcement with anything less than suspicion.

I don't know how we fix it, but I do know there will be another Michael Brown.

Someone please refresh my memory - did any of the autopsy reports indicate Brown was under the influence? Thanks.

Noted racist Al Sharpton is on the case. Should be helpful.

If you're the kind of person who has been railing against racism in America re: the Michael Brown shooting and its fallout and you're not outraged by Sharpton insinuating himself into the center of this thing, you're part of the problem.

All the more reason IMO to make it a life's goal never to have any kind of interaction with said officers.

You can't guarantee it, of course, but committing a crime --- any crime --- is pretty much the opposite way to achieve this goal.
