What should happen is the Ferguson police department should be dismantled for having completely lost the trust of the people they protect.

Whether or not Wilson was indicted was always just setting people up for disappointment. It's hard enough to convict a cop in this situation, let alone after any chance for a real investigation was obstructed by his friends in the force from the moment it happened.

Of course not. FWIW, I recall Gee once being known around here for nearly always being wrong when he made before the fact predictions. Appears he's found his way around that--just wait till the shit's already happened, and then say "I knew it all along" after the fact.

FWIW, prosecutors prosecute plenty of cops in this country--and get re-elected, and continue their political careers.

He said at one point that the federal investigation is ongoing.

They showed the entire scene as it unfolded. People beat the shit out of that car and smashed it. Crazy.
Police are showing a lot of restraint here. It does seem like it's going to boil over soon though.

I'd say it's boiling over now. Obama about to speak.

POTUS just said "we are a nation built on the rule of law".

That changed in a hurry from four days ago.

Certainly helped Wilson that the prosecutor comes from a long line of cops (he wanted to be one himself but had a disability that prevented it). In this prosecutor's previous best-known case, a grand jury declined to indict two police officers for shooting two black men who the officers said drove the car toward them, despite forensic evidence showing the car never moved. Later reporting found that the prosecutor had lied about what witnesses told him and thus the case he presented.

I know it's not popular to say this but I feel a sense of relief when President Obama addresses the nation on matters like this Ferguson decision. I don't agree with all his decisions but it's nice to have confidence in my Commander in Chief. I would vote for him again in 2016 if he could run.
(End of political discussions. I promise)
