You had your chance to prove that you understood either of those arguments and swung and missed pretty hard.

Hey, something we can all agree on. The "hands up, don't shoot" thing came from pretty dubious testimony. It is probably in the pantheon of urban legends next to "she said yes" at Columbine.

Don't put your hands up, also don't put them in your pocket. It makes white folks nervous.

As dumb as the "hands up" thing is - because, you know, Michael Brown's hands weren't up - the St. Louis Police Officers Association statement in response is even dumber.

Is that a threat?! Are they going to shoot them!? I think they might shoot them.

How is it racist to post a side of story that was written about in many newspapers?

He's been involved in a car chase, and was charged with resisting arrest in a separate incident, and he's alive?

    That's pretty shocking.

You would think for sure, give the racism prevalent in American police forces, that some trigger happy cop would have taken the opportunity to blow him away.

Especially when dealing with NJ State troopers, world renowned for their racism. Clearly yesterday
was not the first time that Kenny B put his hands up in the air.

Joe Scarborough went off this morning:

Someone needs to tell me why Michael Brown has been chosen as the face of black oppression.

There are so many great people to embrace as heroes in the black community, that deciding you’re going to embrace a guy who knocked over a convenience store and then according to a Grand Jury testimony acted in ways that would get my children shot? …That’s your hero? That’s the reason you want to burn down black businesses?…Really? This is your mission in life?

"Face of black oppression" ≠ "hero."

    More like "tragic symbol."

If Joe really believes his children would be at risk of getting shit, you can dismiss just about everything he says on it.

If you punch a cop, go for his gun, and charge him once he's already fired his weapon, you think white skin is going to prevent him from killing you?

White skin would have prevented the situation from ever happening in the first place.

But yes, even if the confrontation happened exactly as Darren Wilson described it, a white kid would not have been shot.

It would have been a nice test of Wilson's vocabulary, though, as he would have had to paint the picture without calling anyone a demon or making him sound like a charging bull.
