We can't forget that sometimes a bad team rises above because it's one of the only times they get to pretend they're playing for the national title.

Who the hell *isn't* going to rise their game against the defending national champions?

Yes, Florida should crush Ole Miss like USC should crush Idaho. But we've got to give credit to the dregs sometimes because they're never going to play games as big as this, i.e. Idaho v. USC and Ole Miss v. Florida. Oh, I know Ole Miss is going to play many games like this in the SEC because the SEC is a great conference. But sometimes the best teams have to fight for their lives every single second of every single quarter of every single game, like Florida yesterday and USC in the opener.

Sometimes you've got to credit the very best teams for actually winning games in which they're favored by 4, 5, 6 touchdowns, even if they win by only 4 or 5 points.

P.S. In today's game, you let down for one bit and the App. States and Ball States are going to bite your balls off.

Does Nebraska's performance against Ball State say something after the fact about USC's victory at Nebraska? Does Syracuse's performance against Louisville say something about every team that plays Louisville this season? No voter can keep up with all of the interconnectedness in a season, and I think few in Week 9 spend enough thought reevaluating the assumptions they made, say, in Week 3.

The BCS computers are supposed to connect an entire season without bias. There is something to be said for the human element of understanding injuries, rivalries, passion, hangover games, sandwich games and the like, but that same human element can't possibly connect 12 weeks for 119 teams with flawless precision.

To that I'll only add: The world's an imperfect place. Screws fall out all the time.

USC came all over Nebraska, too. Hence, Nebraska sucks. Syracuse was bound to win at some point, and Louisville was the 'hicle to get that because here's big, bad Louisville with the greatest passing offense in the history of college football, and so Syracuse has a little somethin-something to prove. Although, the kid going 45 of 55 for 555 yards and 5 TDs says more about Louisville's shitty defense than anything else. Anyway, Syracuse NEEDED a win to avoid going 0-4 and, for all intents and purposes, missing out on a bowl game. At least now the Orange can play themselves into a winning, respectable record. Or, they'll walk around campus all week swangin' their thangs all big-headed and then get cummed on themselves this week against whoever they play. You just never know from week to week.

brohm was 45 of 65 at just 8.5 yards a pop, not 45 of 55. big difference.

The bigger shocker to me was this statline: Graham Harrell 46 of 67, 646 yards, 5 TDs, 9.6 yards per pass, no INT (brohm threw two) and Texas Tech still lost to Oklahoma State.

**Loving Xanny's usage of cum to describe college football.

**Florida did drop to fourth in the AP Poll (behind Oklahoma).

For Florida it was the first road game for something like 18 freshmen. It's not a shock that they struggled a little bit.
I can see dropping them behind Oklahoma, because the Sooners have been so impressive, but I can't see dropping them any more than that.

As far as what Nebraska-Ball State tells us about USC, not a whole hell of a lot. One, because USC manhandled them for pretty much the whole game, and two, because the Ball State game smells of a classic hangover game. Nebraska's most likely better than they showed against the Cardinals.

Anyone else having a bitch of a time doing their poll? Not too much movement in my Top 10. After that, though, it gets tough.

Already submitted mine this morning, and yeah, it was tough. My top 10 stayed the same, but there was a whole lotta movin' and shakin' after that. Five teams dropped out (with five new ones moving in, obviously) and I have a couple teams in the top 15 that I wouldn't ordinarily consider top-15 teams. I also kept a couple teams in the bottom five that I really wanted to knock out of the poll, but couldn't find worthy replacements (Alabama, Nebraska, Penn State, for example.)

Hopefully the next couple of weeks will clear things up a little.

Just submitted mine. Toughest one yet. And without Indiana sort of justifying my heart-first pick of them, even worse.

There are teams whose presence in the top 10 can be justified, and teams whose presence in spots 20-25 is appropriate. But so few seem worthy of standing up and proclaiming they belong anywhere in between.

    Ugh.

I was good for about 12 or 13 spots then just starated juggling people around.
I think by the time I got to 21- thru 25, I left one team in that definitely should be out.

How far did you all drop Penn State? Nebraska? Alabama?

It's hard to drop the Huskers completely since they won, even as bad as it was. Plus, who do you add in their spot?
