A quick insight on my ballot — 1. Florida, 2. LSU, 3. Oklahoma, 4. Southern Cal, 5. West Virginia.

Top five stayed in same spots, as did Cal (6) and Rutgers (7).

Biggest risers — Georgia from 24 to 18 and Va. Tech from 22 to 17; Biggest Fall — Penn State from 10 to 22 (Besides Lousiville from 14 to out)
Added to the top 25 — Missouri at 19, Cincinnati at 24, Kansas at 25
Dropped from the top 25 — Louisville, Arkansas, Georgia Tech

Other Notes: I jumped Ohio State (9) in front of Wisconsin (11), dropped Nebraska from 19 to 23, moved South Florida from 20 to 16 and ranked South Carolina 15, Georgia 18 and Alabama 20.

And as a side note, I love how Georgia is ranked right in front of South Carolina in the AP poll and waaay ahead in the coaches poll.

If they beat Purdue, then I would put them in. Purdue's got a really good offense and they're really going to test Michigan with that spread offense. So far, Michigan's record against the spread o= 0-2

Only thing is, Purdue's played four very weak non-conference games, so I look at that offense with a grain of salt.

Penn State: From 9th to 18th

    Alabama: 16th to 21st

Nebraska: 24th to, erm, 24th (in fairness, they did get passed by four teams — three of which were previously unranked)

Michigan returns to mine, and Michigan State makes an appearance. ... Not sure why Arizona State and Purdue got in over them in others, though Sparty (HI STARMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!) isn't all that impressive either.

    I just couldn't find a 25th team.

Pitt just lost by 20 to UConn, but was a dropped touchdown pass away from overtime at Michigan State. They played in my mind when doing the ballot last night. Arizona State made my cut, but Purdue didn't. I don't trust the Big 10 at this point.

The Big 10 struggles were the reason I left Michigan State and Purdue off this week. Of the unbeatens, I also left out UConn and Arizona State.

For me, Cincy got the nod over Arizona State because of their common opponent -- Oregon State. Things may change since Cincy plays the other common opponent San Diego State, this week.

I also went with Kansas, even though they haven't played anyone and they have all been at home, but the Jayhawks have done what top 25 teams are supposed to do, which is absolutely destroy them.

I too was thinking about Michigan State, but want to see how they play against Wisconsin this weekend before I make a decision on them.

Is that because Kansas has played two of those opponents?

This seems like a good time to state again that I have not voted for KU. If they're in the top 25, don't look to me.

And friend of a friend, you nailed it. If I'm not ranking KU based on non-conference schedule, I better treat Purdue just the same. KU did beat both common opponents by larger margins, but I'll wait for conference play before I take the leap on both.

Sounds like a good idea, Oz. I don't even think beating Notre Dame should get Purdue ranked. Never thought I would say that.

Why aren't we high on Arizona State?
They haven't played a great schedule, admittedly, but they've dominated most of the teams they've played.
They're best in the Pac-10 in defense (19th in the nation), and 3rd in the Pac-10 in offense at 450.5 a game. They've got balance on offense, averaging over 150 yds/rush a game.
Are they a prefect team, hell no. They have a tendency to start slow, and the Beavers may or may not have exposed a flaw in their passing defense (hard to tell b/c of how crummy they were as a team in the first quarter), but considering the crap-fest that goes on from about 15-25, it seems like they should be in there somewhere.

Just one man's opinion, of course.
But I think they're better than Purdue or Mich State among the undefeateds, and at least Va. Tech among the 1-loss teams. (I'd also argue to have them above Hawaii, Penn State and Georgia, but those are more contentious.)
