Well, Florida finally dropped from No. 1 in my poll. Didn't drop too far, only to No. 7. I still think they're damn good, and the team to beat in the SEC East.

I've got USC ahead of LSU at No. 1 because I've seen them more. But I'm not terribly impressed by either, yet. By the time the season is over, I think that decision will be clear-cut.

Other poll highlights: South Florida jumped 9 spots to No. 8, one ahead of the Mountaineers. Kentucky jumped into the 10 spot. Oregon only fell 2 spots, to 14.

Rutgers fell a poll-high 11 spots to No. 21. Arizona State entered my rankings for the first time at 22, as did K-State at 25.

Illinois made its debut in my poll, at 24 or 25; I can't remember which. I need to start saving these in my outbox.

Fear the Bluebird of Cocksuckery, I say. Yes, No. 10.

    Deal, bizzos! :D

But you don't rank 5-0 Purdue, which has whipped two of the crappy teams Kansas has whipped? And has beaten mighty Notre Dame?

At this point, FOAF, St. Mary's of the Locked-Knee Virgin could beat Notre Dame. Sad sad statement what the Irish have become, and I loathe them. But college football is at its healthiest when Notre Dame is a contender.

Anyhoo, Kansas is 5-0. Let's see what Purdue does this week. I've had a soft spot for Purdue since it's where Jim Everett went and he was one of my fave L.A. Rams. I'll pay more attention to the Boilersmiths should they go to 6-0.

I don't think Purdue or Kansas should be ranked yet. You have to play somebody to earn a spot.

Jayhawks have K State and Purdue has Ohio State this week. I say Jayhawks win and the Boilers get crushed.

By the way, the last time I saw Jim Everett in person, he was pissing in a bathroom sink at a bar in Indianapolis. 1986, I believe.

I'd also suggest putting down a few coins on USC cumming ALL OVER Stanford.

    I'd say that's a safe bet.

Our Rutgers guy still thinks Rutgers is going to beat Cincy, even after Rutgers' blowing of it Saturday. Umm, Cincy's 5-0. Now, Cincy at home would be a lock, but on the road they've never proved all that much.

A win this week would really make things interesting. Don't think I'd put money on it because Rutgers just might come out pissed off and do something productive.

    What do you think?

I still think Rutgers is better than Cincy, but we'll find out soon enough.
