A quick insight on my ballot — 1. LSU, 2. Cal, 3. Ohio State, 5. South Florida, 5. Boston College

Top five's only change was USC out and everyone slid up a spot.

Biggest riser — Honestly, there wasn't one over three spots; Biggest Falls — Wisconsin from 9 to 19, Southern Cal from 2 to 11.
Added to the top 25 — Florida State at 22, Indiana at 23, Texas Tech at 24
Dropped from the top 25 — Rutgers, Kansas State, Nebraska

Other notes: My top 10 spots are all undefeated teams -- Southen Cal is my top top 1-loss at 11 followed by South Carolina, Oregon and Virginia Tech. I moved UConn from 24 to 20. Florida is my only 2-loss team and they are 25.

Except the Bulls have actually beaten a Top 10 at home and a Top 25 team on the road this season.

Re: SportsJournalists.com College Football Poll -- MISSING AND INCOMPLETE PICKS -- VOTERS PLZ CHECK

The point isn't that Hawaii plays creampuffs in their non-conference schedule. The point is that Hawaii plays nothing but creampuffs all year. It's really a shame that the Warriors are beefing up the OOC schedule right after Brennan leaves, because I'd love to see this team play a bona fide schedule.

But, slappy, 5 out of the 6 teams in the SEC East are ranked in the top 25. Sure, they play weak non-conference schedules, but it's overshadowed by the fact that the same teams are playing each other in conference, and that a lot of the SEC teams are playing 5-6 teams that are/were ranked at one point this season. Add to it that Tennessee played CAL, UF plays Florida State, Kentucky played Louisville (granted, not much to brag about now), and Auburn played USF, and I don't think there are many holes in the argument that Hawaii, playing an average SEC schedule, finishes mid-pack in that conference at the best.

And I think they'd do the same in the Big East. They may knock off a good team or two, but, in my mind, they'd still be the fourth best team in that conference.

In the Big XII, depending on the division, Hawaii would play three or four (Oklahoma, Kansas, Mizzou, etc) ranked teams and few other pretty solid (A&M, Nebraska) teams.

As I said before, ask Texas Tech and Louisville how throwing the ball a shit-ton of times is working out for them in big-time college football. Tech has won some decent Big XII games in the past but has never gotten over the hump in the conference. Louisville, which is throwing the ball like it doesn't even have a running game, can't beat anybody.

Hawaii's gimmick offense would still put up pretty good numbers in the big conferences, but those numbers wouldn't necessarily lead to wins.

    Horsehockey.
The SEC this year is like the Big Ten last year -- two or three really good teams and the rest are overrated.
The Pac 10 this year is like the SEC last year -- some outstanding teams (Cal, Oregon, USC, Arizona State) and some better than average teams (Washington, Oregon State, UCLA) who will win conference games they shouldnt because on the others despite a poor record in conference.
I dont buy the SEC beats up on each other so its a great conference crap -- this year anyway. Alabama, Georgia and Arkansas don't deserve to sniff the top 25 right now and Auburn, Tennessee and Florida are 15-25 at best.

I can agree that some of the SEC teams are overrated simply because they are in the SEC. But I still don't think Hawaii is a good enough all-around team to merit a top 10 ranking. Just as Rutgers, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Florida, and so on and so forth have proven that they aren't.

The only difference is that Hawaii doesn't really play anyone that can expose them like the other teams do.

There are at least a dozen teams in college football that would walk through Hawaii's schedule while barely breaking a sweat.

Keep in mind that the problem with the Hawaii's, Boise State's, and South Florida's of the football world is not always a soft schedule, but that perennial powers know how good they are and back out of deals or won't get into them.
Michigan's game with Appalachian State, for example, is a direct result of Michigan backing out/buying out of a deal with Hawaii. Who knew?
